Each year the Raleigh – Durham area ranks at the top of many notable accolades and rankings. There are many reasons for the appeal of this prominent research and tech sector. Some say the mild climate, affordable and safe neighborhoods, blossoming foodie scene, and expanding innovation for corporations and start-ups looking to grow their business is reason enough to call this area their home.
One of the unique things about Raleigh that I appreciate is the number of TREES in relation to its large city size. Raleigh and the surrounding Research Triangle Park (RTP) has more than 100 miles of greenway trails and over 200 parks.
This area’s commitment to expanding its parks and green space, even during major growth and development, is great to see. Just this month alone I have come across three events or projects for our Raleigh community.
Green isn’t just for St. Pattys Day celebrations. Making our city greener is something to celebrate too.

A new skate park in Raleigh. What I love about this – someone had an idea that could appeal to many people, so he engaged the community to partner together to make it happen.
